BEST INTERNET HUMOR

Buzzword Bingo
Author: Tom Davis and Seth Katz
Notes: The originator of Buzzword Bingo, a 90’s phenomenon was Tom Davis, Principal Scientist of Silicon Graphics where he and Seth Katz invented it in 1993. “Seth had been saving up buzzwords for quite some time,” Davis recalls, “so I used his list, added a few of my own ‘favorites,’ and hacked together the program.”

Going round the Internet like wildfire in 1999 was the game of buzzword bingo. There was something of a scandal at NASA when it leaked out that employees were gambling on buzzword bingo results.

Another Dilbert-inspired activity, the idea was to accumulate lists of words that are rapidly becoming clichés in the business world, hot current words such as proactive, enterprise resourcefulness, can-do moment, etc. Each player chooses a list of five words and takes them to a meeting. As the words are used by the speaker, players check off their choices. When all five are expressed, the player jumps up and cries out “Buzzword Bingo.” Everyone is expected to fall about with laughter. Here are the top 50 buzzwords of the past year:
